November 16, Almost Done

Image
I am so close to being done and this condo is beautiful.  It is so comfortable that in this perfect weather I find myself dozing off, especially after a swim.  Honestly, I would have never accomplished anything in my life if I lived here all the time.  It is like being in a warm bath with big Turkish towels to wrap yourself in and then falling asleep in a down blanket while listening to ocean waves. Speaking of sleep, I am getting used to a twin bed.  After a king, this is funny, I have almost rolled off the bed many times. But now I have an extra bed for friends and family who can visit after COVID is over.  I also have a sofa bed! Here are the pictures I promised for the condo.  I still have to put my rug down and the dishwasher and washer and dryer are coming in a week I am told.

I'm sitting on my deck with a little lamp so I can get the cooler sea breeze and listening to the waves crash on the beach.   In my effort to have some semblance of a Sabbath, I listened to the Mexican LDS Conference that was held in our stake here as a virtual meeting.  I understand only a few words, but the spirit was there and it was nice.  More construction this past week.  I  have had such fun watching it go up and the workmen seem pleased that I praise a lot so they have been bringing me street tacos and carnitas and I bought pizza again one day.  It is going to be weird without at least 6 men in this tiny place.  It will feel like a palace. Paulina and Jess downstairs invited me to dinner which was wonderful since I've just had a microwave and no sink so you can imagine what I am eating. Paulina is from Chile and she and Jess met at college in California 50 years ago.  They were both principals.  Jess plays the guitar. ...

Working with workmen

It's Sunday again.  I am so trying to make it a different day than all the rest, but I surely miss going to Church.  Ugh!  When will COVID be vanquished?   I'm having a lot of fun with my 8 workmen.  They all want to find a husband for me, but I tell them that husbands are too much work at which they howl!  Except for Jose and Chano, they are all in their twenties.  So Thursday they brought street food, carnitas which consist of a very well, meat off the bone, cooked chicken, tortillas, onions and hot sauces.  It was delicious.  Friday I bought pizza.   Jose comes by every day to check on the work being done, he is very serious about getting everything right.  I found a place that sells amazing Talavera tile and it was hard choosing the right ones, but I think it is starting to look even  better than I imagined. I'm meeting more and more of my neighbors who are so friendly and instantly include me in their  conve...
